I think I’m loosing it. I went out to paint and forgot my paints and medium. Had to scrape my dried up pallet with turpentine. Everything is so difficult these days. I can’t think straight anymore. Way too many variables to juggle. Its not fun.
It was windy when I went out to paint on the salt marsh at lunch . I had my easel weighed down but occasionally had to hold the canvas for fear of it blowing away.
I had a hour to paint between rummaging through storage and the rare no kids dinner reservation with Zeldie. The Pride of Madeira at my moms was pushing out its spikes so I set up in front of it not wanting to waste any time looking for something new.
I’ve been swamped with Star Wars work for the last two weeks and haven’t had much time to paint. Today I was able to catch my breath. I set up across the street from my apartment and painted the rolling clouds as the sun dropped bellow the horizon.
I was fortunate to road trip with the great Forbes Latimer for a few days down the west coast of America. He was en route for Texas and then off to navigate the waters of the Sea of Cortez. Forbes is a true wild rover and could easily be mistaken for the wayward protagonist of a London or Steinbeck novel. He is fearless, wild and free. I was able to match his speed and trajectory just long enough paint a portrait. Then the wind shifted, and he was away once more in search of new adventures.
Quick oil sketch this afternoon of the marsh across the street.
