For your amusement I present the unabridged contents of my latest sketchbook.
Most of the work is exploratory ideas for a feature film I have been dreaming up about giant moths. As part of my research for the film I have also been actively photographing and ID’ing Hong Kong wildlife on iNaturalist. If you are a nature buff I encourage you to check out iNat its a pretty incredible resource. A few of the critters from my nightly moth hunts have ended up on the pages below.
The book itself is a moleskin watercolor pocket, 3.5 x 5.5in. Its pretty small so on your screen the art may appear magnified. It was completed over the course of three months and drawn entirely in Hong Kong. I finished the last page on June 6th, 2013. Front to back, the medium is pencil and watercolor, with the occasional gouache touch up.
As always enjoy, let me know what you guys think.
