It has been raining on and off for the last two weeks. I have been here in San Francisco for over a month now but have yet to find the time to go exploring. Painted this quick sketch late one night while waiting for my espresso to wear off.
Thought I posted this one a long time ago but it seams to be missing in action. Not sure where it went. The painting itself is from my Dick and Don and the Black Lotus movie project. It depicts them chasing some thuggish art thieves through the back alley markets of Kong Kong. I’m guessing this is over near central.
It is also one of the first things I painted using ArtRage studio Pro. This was a game changer for me. Being able to paint quick and messy was a god send at the time.
I spent a few hours this the morning trying to track this painting down for a portfolio i’m currently piecing together. It is a little sad but I can’t find the original ArtRage .ptg file. My guess is that it is probably sitting on some dusty hard-drive back in Canada. I’ll just have to add it to my long “things I wish I wish I brought to Hong Kong” list.
I have been working on a lot of technically demanding work lately and needed a messy break. Nothing does messy digital quite like ArtRage so I fired it up and got all my demons out. Love ArtRage its a great tool. Wish it did dry media half as well as it did oil but then again I never really liked chalk anyways.
This is just a quick sketch. Proportions are all wrong, eye’s crooked, flat colors, etc… Just thought I should share something since the postings lately have been rather lean.
Now that the Instant Art Critique Phrase Generator has arrived on the scene subjective error in art analysis is a thing of the past. The IACPG is the only art critic who can accurately and scientifically compute the æsthetic value of any known work.
I don’t know how but this story panel got lost in the shuffle. It is from the beginning of the sketchbook I am currently working on and probably should have been included a few posts back. It is from the beginning of my Wakefield storm sequence.
Added another Wakefield water-color doodle to my sketchbook last night. I penciled in a few more panels as well but it may be a few days before I have a chance to paint them.
Wakefield and company leap to the safety of the open ocean after escaping from the house of gold.
