I decided to pull the plug on my Twitter account after all the drama and fallout from Elon buying the platform. The final straw for me was him going out of his way to reinstate Trumps account. Twitter no longer has a moral code. It’s North Star is now a troll. The canary in the coal mine is dead, time to run for fresh air and find a new bird.
Well that was a lot more confusing and way more work than I remembered. Long story short, I had to fix some broken code on the site and apparently I forgot everything about site development. Spent the whole day relearning how to setup a localhost and sass compilers.
Fired up the glowforge and etched the family winery logo onto the back of a chess board my brother made. Laser etching is fascinating to watch and frustrating to set up. I’ve been using Affinity Designer and have had countless quality problems. It’s a real headache to export clean .svg files from that app
This website has been offline for a few months now for reasons beyond my control. I’m now clawing my way back after a major infrastructure collapse.
My webhost was upgrading their servers and there was a data transfer error. Usually not a big deal, this is why you keep backups right, unfortunately my personal site backups had stopped working a month earlier for some unknown reason… No problem, because my host keeps a backup of all the data and the physical drive on the old server that they were switching out when they moved still exist. We just had to get the old drives with my site and the backup shipped to us and transferred over to the new server. This is where things get bad. The physical drives were damaged while being shipped to the new facility. long story short, I lost about two months worth of posts and had to rebuild them from scratch. This is a situation which can best described as shitty.
A lot of good people worked very hard to help get this rush bucket back up and running. It may take me a while to get back up to speed but I’m at a point now where I can start posting again without writing over old data. Fingers crossed the worst is behind me and I never have to go through a major site meltdown like this again.
Took the boys to Angel Island today, they had a great time drawing in their sketchbooks and playing on the beach.
Visited the birthplace of the view-master, aka the Oregon Caves. The caves themselves were awesome and wonderous yet it was a small sign off to the side near the lodge gift shop that caught my eye. Apparently, the little château here was the birth place of the view-master and in turn affordable mass-market stereoscopic imagery. William B. Grubber met Harold J. Trying to get my act together. Been offline for too long. This site looks dusty. I’m going to make a better effort to post more. Still can’t decide where, though. All the cool kids seam to use social media.
Half way through my current sketchbook. If all goes well it will be completed in about a month, but realistically, three months.
After months of procrastination I have finally resolved some major errors in the code for this site. These gremlins prevented me from posting from my phone. Now liberated, I suddenly I find myself with the awesome power of being able to post while I’m away from my desk. I’m so happy. I should be able to update the archive with less trouble and far more frequently than in the past.
Season three of Star Wars Rebels premiers tomorrow. It’s gonna be a crazy ride for all the Star Wars fans out there. There is so much awesomeness in store for them. I’m quite pride of my small contribution. Defiantly my best story work to date. I’m looking forward to everyone’s reactions.
