Gold Country

I had a great time with the kids on their fourth grade field trip to Sutter’s Mill this week. After a hard day of panning for gold, I was able to break away at dinner for a quick river painting.

River Road

Road my bike over to the river to get some painting time in. Didn’t put much thought into it and put down this really blah composition, then wasted the next hour trying to make it work. Back home I wasted more time trying to fix it. I guess parts of the tree are ok. At least I got some practice in. Better luck tomorrow.

Upper Sacramento River

Found twenty minutes to paint while passing though Dunsmuir on my way north to see the great American eclipse in Oregon. Forgot to bring ink so I’ll clean this up a bit later. Can’t complain, after six hours in the car with three boys just sitting by a river is bliss.

I used to go fishing on this stretch of the river with my dad, every year for opening day of trout season. Good times.

Dick & Don Cartoon
Hurry up! Don’t be a scaredy-cat.

Playing around with styles for the new book. It needs to be clean, simple, a tad messy and most importantly fast. I’ve been thinking of doing it all traditionally as that would be the fastest and give me the right look but I anticipate a lot of revision work so digital would be the most flexible.
