It’s gross outside. Smoke from the Willits fire has turned the whole neighborhood a peach hue.

Looking out the living room window the air is heavy with smoke from the Napa and Sonoma fires. It’s a weird mix of purple and yellow greens. Strongly backlit in the morning light the view from my dinning room table continues to challenge me.

Just looking down my driveway

I ran out of panel boards to paint on, oh the joys of social distancing, finally made some more and am back at it. Here’s an oil sketch of a bush in my yard. (Nerium oleander)

A battle with a hive of yellow jackets was once waged here, many lives were lost, today it’s just the location of a quarantine painting.

Back in February I did a little painting outside the Saini tasting room. Honestly if you haven’t tried their wine you are miss missing out, the Saini family really knows their craft. Angelo’s paint brush is beyond good.

The only upside to this Covid-19 pandemic is that I get to spend a lot more time with my boys. Today, I sketched the twins while they were sitting down for their morning Zoom meetings.

Here is a quick sketch of the house plant next to my desk. I’m testing out some new oil paints I ordered from Natural Pigments. They have a very different feel than my usual Holbein Aqua Oil colors. I’m digging them but they will take some time to get used to.

I made one last lunchtime painting before Lucasfilm sent everybody home because of C19. It’s of one of the officer houses across the street from work. I cut through this yard on the way to Cafe RX nearly every week day. It has these beautiful trees. I’m sure to do more paintings here, it’s just a lovely space and has great light.
