My son Silas is really getting into his drawings lately. I’m very proud of to see how passionate he is about art. He takes his work very seriously, almost too seriously.
The other day we were in the middle of a long drawing session when it dawned on me that he is a drawing fiend. I drew this little caricature of him. Oh man was he upset. I agreed the drawing was off insisting that the eye color was wrong. This only upset him more. I was trying to coax him into a caricature battle but I don’t think he gets it yet, got to get him to fire back. Can’t wait to see what happens when he starts drawing the family. I’m sure it will be glorious.
Lots of interesting drawings in this one. Dated 2006-2007. It documents my move from the US to Canada, the start of my professional career and the final days of my bachelor life.
Had a little free time today so I sat down and drew this cozy little room in ArtRage. Not sure what it is so i’m going to call it a playroom. Probably too tidy for that… Who knows maybe the kids grew up. I’m over thinking it.
Some friends of mine recently opened the Fogbelt brewing Company in Santa Rosa, California. Long story short, the beer is awesome and I’ve done a few concept designs for them. Here is a teeshirt Idea I doodled a few months back. Go check them out if your are ever up in Santa Rosa.

Just finished building my WaterColorBot. It’s super fantastic awesome! I thought it would be fun to have my new drawing robot draw more robots, so I put it to work drawing Chopper from Star Wars Rebels. Here is a little time-lapse of WaterColorBot doing its thing.
My five year old son and I collaborated to make this lovely little ceramic Chopper C1-10P USB storage jar. He was taking a potter class at the local community center. chopper is his favorite character from Star Wars Rebels, the show i’m currently storyboarding on.

Nothing is more frustrating than loosing hours of work because of a program crash but cursing your computer won’t resurrect that lost data. Instead, do the right thing and plan ahead. Do what Jesus would do, save often and make daily backups.
Don’t let crash demons ruin your day. Do the right thing. Save your artwork often.
Over the weekend i painted a bit of the backyard with these terrible, bottom of the shelf, acrylic paints. Honestly the worst paints i’ve ever used in my life. Brand new and half the tubes had solidified. To make things worse the only brushes around the house were Silas’ cheapo plastic ones from Ikea. I couldn’t have had a worse setup but still it was a breath of fresh air to get away from my digital art desk, even if it was just for an hour or two.
