Rudie wanted to make a self portrait in oil so I showed him how to set up the gear and then helped him out with the paint mixing, and a bunch of observational tips. He was a great student. I think he did a great job. Not bad for his first try.

Bought a new easel
After years of using paper plates, discarded tins and DIY contraptions for my oil pallets I decided to splurge and get some proper oil plein air gear. A few months ago I found the Daytripper Easel by Prolific Painter online and have been salivating over it ever since. Last night I put my money on the table and ordered one. If the larger Road tripper gets released I’ll be in line for it as well, that looks more my size. The weather is stunning outside, can’t wait to get back on the trail and test out the new gear.

This website has been offline for a few months now for reasons beyond my control. I’m now clawing my way back after a major infrastructure collapse.
My webhost was upgrading their servers and there was a data transfer error. Usually not a big deal, this is why you keep backups right, unfortunately my personal site backups had stopped working a month earlier for some unknown reason… No problem, because my host keeps a backup of all the data and the physical drive on the old server that they were switching out when they moved still exist. We just had to get the old drives with my site and the backup shipped to us and transferred over to the new server. This is where things get bad. The physical drives were damaged while being shipped to the new facility. long story short, I lost about two months worth of posts and had to rebuild them from scratch. This is a situation which can best described as shitty.
A lot of good people worked very hard to help get this rush bucket back up and running. It may take me a while to get back up to speed but I’m at a point now where I can start posting again without writing over old data. Fingers crossed the worst is behind me and I never have to go through a major site meltdown like this again.

Visited the birthplace of the view-master, aka the Oregon Caves. The caves themselves were awesome and wonderous yet it was a small sign off to the side near the lodge gift shop that caught my eye. Apparently, the little château here was the birth place of the view-master and in turn affordable mass-market stereoscopic imagery. William B. Grubber met Harold J. Went to the Degas show at the Legion of Honor this morning. Impressionist paintings and French millinery, this show was made just for me. Loved it. Sat down with the kids and drew ladies in hats for a few hours.
